September 2025 Stimulus Payments: Which States Are Sending Checks This Month?


American families are still searching for financial relief to help with everyday costs, and while no federal stimulus checks are scheduled this month, several states are stepping in with their own programs.


From property tax relief to guaranteed income pilots and oil dividend payouts, here’s what’s coming in September.

New York – STAR Program (School Tax Relief)

  • Purpose: Provides property tax relief for eligible homeowners.

  • Payment amounts:

    • Standard homeowners: $350 to $600

    • Seniors: $700 to $1,500

  • Eligibility: You must meet residency and income rules. Seniors may qualify for enhanced exemptions with higher benefits.

 

California – Sacramento Guaranteed Income Pilot

  • Payment date: September 15

  • Who qualifies:

    • Residents of specific Sacramento zip codes (95815, 95821, 95823, 95825, 95828, 95838)

    • Parents or guardians of children ages 0–5

    • Households with income below 200% of the federal poverty level

  • Details: Families will receive monthly cash support with no restrictions on spending, designed to ease financial stress and boost stability for households with young children.

 

Alaska – Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD)

  • Payment date: September 11

  • Eligibility rules:

    • Must have been a full-year Alaska resident in 2024 and intend to stay.

    • Cannot claim residency in another state or country since December 31, 2023.

    • Must not have a disqualifying criminal record.

    • Must not have been absent from Alaska more than 180 days, unless for military service, education, or medical needs.

  • Amount: Varies annually depending on state oil revenues, but typically provides a substantial payout to eligible residents.

 

Bottom Line

Even though there’s no nationwide stimulus, New York, California, and Alaska are distributing payments to qualifying residents in September 2025.
