Pennsylvania has officially opened applications for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate (PTRR) Program for 2026, offering much-needed financial relief to residents struggling with housing costs.

Backed by Governor Josh Shapiro, the program is designed to help vulnerable Pennsylvanians stay in their homes and keep up with essential bills as rent and property taxes continue to rise.

With affordability challenges hitting seniors, renters, and people with disabilities especially hard, PTRR remains one of the state’s most important relief programs.

 

Who Can Qualify for Pennsylvania’s PTRR Program in 2026?

The PTRR program is targeted, not universal. You may be eligible if you fall into one of these groups:

• Seniors: Age 65 or older

• Widows and widowers: Age 50 or older

• People with disabilities: Age 18 or older

Applicants must also meet income limits to qualify.

PTRR Income Limits and Rebate Amounts for 2026

Your rebate amount depends on your total annual income, which must be $48,110 or less.

Here’s how the standard rebate breaks down:

• $0–$8,550: Up to $1,000

• $8,551–$16,040: Up to $770

• $16,041–$19,240: Up to $460

• $19,241–$48,110: Up to $380

 

When Rebates Can Reach $1,500

Some homeowners may qualify for a supplemental rebate that increases payments to as much as $1,500.

This applies automatically if:

• Your income is below $32,070, and

• Your property taxes exceed 15% of your annual income

No separate application is required for this supplement—the state calculates it for you.
