July 2026 Social Security & SNAP Payment Dates: Know When Your Benefits Arrive for Rent, Groceries, and Bills
Millions of households will receive their July 2026 Social Security and SNAP benefits throughout the month, and knowing the exact dates can help with rent, groceries, utilities, and other essential bills.
Since both programs follow different payment rules, it’s important to look at each schedule separately.
July 2026 Social Security Payment Dates
The Social Security Administration’s July schedule includes payments for SSI, retirement, SSDI, and survivor benefits. Here are the key dates:
-
July 1, 2026 – SSI payment
Supplemental Security Income is paid on the first day of the month to eligible people with limited income and resources. -
July 2, 2026 – Early payment for certain long-time beneficiaries
This applies to people who:-
Started receiving Social Security before May 1997, or
-
Receive both Social Security and SSI.
These payments are usually due on the 3rd, but because Independence Day is observed on Friday, July 3, 2026, the payment moves to Thursday, July 2.
-
-
July 8, 2026 – Second Wednesday
For beneficiaries with birthdays from the 1st through the 10th. -
July 15, 2026 – Third Wednesday
For beneficiaries with birthdays from the 11th through the 20th. -
July 22, 2026 – Fourth Wednesday
For beneficiaries with birthdays from the 21st through the 31st.
Most retirees and SSDI recipients follow this Wednesday-by-birthday pattern, while long-time beneficiaries and some SSI recipients are paid earlier in the month.
Why Some SSI Recipients Get Two Payments in July
There is one important scheduling quirk in July 2026. Since August 1 falls on a weekend, SSA will issue the August SSI payment early, on Friday, July 31, 2026.
That means some SSI recipients will see two deposits in July:
-
One for July on July 1
-
One for August on July 31
This is not an extra payment. It is simply the August benefit arriving early because of the calendar. SSA’s rule on early payments is explained here: SSI benefit payment rules
If you receive SSI, it’s best to treat the July 31 payment as August money, not bonus income.
July 2026 Social Security Amounts
The amount each person receives depends on:
-
Earnings history
-
Age when benefits are claimed
-
Type of benefit
SSA’s latest statistical snapshot shows that the average monthly benefit for retired workers was about $2,082.76 in May 2026 after the 2026 COLA increase. You can review those figures here: Monthly Statistical Snapshot
For more on how COLA is calculated using CPI-W, see: Cost-of-Living Adjustments (COLA) series
July 2026 SNAP Payment Schedule
SNAP benefits for July 2026 will be loaded onto EBT cards throughout the month, but the timing depends on the state or territory where you live. There is no single national SNAP payment date.
SNAP is issued electronically through EBT cards, which can be used at approved grocery stores and online retailers. More about the program: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
July Holiday Impact
Because the Fourth of July holiday falls in the first week of the month, some states that only process payments on business days may issue SNAP deposits slightly earlier than usual if a payment date falls on a holiday.
SNAP offices and call centers may also be closed over the holiday weekend, though that does not stop electronic deposits.
